Remember the summers you spent tying macrame bracelets? We turned back the hands of time and gave this technique a new lease of life!
In case your memory is failing, here is a reminder of how to create those summer bracelets…
- 4 meters (4.3 yards) of Chinese knotting cord;
- a ring;
- a needle with a large eye;
- 2 x 75cm (30 inches);
- 2 x 50cm (20 inches);
- 1 x 25cm (10 inches).
Then fix the 50cm long threads to the ring (we will call those threads “the bases”).
02. Start knotting! Take one 75cm long thread and place it horizontally below the base. Pass the right end above the base and below the left side. Then pass the left side below the base and the right side where they both cross. Tighten.
Start again but on the other side. Pass the left side above the base and below the right side. Then pass the right side below the base and the right side where they both cross. Thighten.
04. To end the first half of the bracelet, pass the right end in the eye of the needle. Pass the needle behind two or three lines of knots at the back of the bracelet. Do the same with the left end.
Tip: Make sure to pass only the ends. Keep the base out of the knots.
